Year 6 Homework

In Year 6 weekly homework will be given out on a Monday and will be checked the following Monday. The Google Classroom provides the platform for home learning to take place.

Students will be given:

  • An online maths task set on MyMaths which will reflect what the students have been learning about in class.

  • Weekly spellings to practise and reinforce spelling rules learnt in school. These will also need reinforcing throughout the year.  A copy of the Year 6 Spelling Word List can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page.

  • A colour coded reading book. It is expected that students read with an adult at least 5x per week and that this is recorded in the reading diary. Please refer to the ‘reading domains’ stuck into the front of your child's reading record to ensure questions are asked which reflect the essential skills for reading.

Please also encourage:

  • Reading at home/reading for pleasure.  We have prepared a recommended reading list for Year 6 and this can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page.

  • Bug Club and Spelling Shed - websites to reinforce learning.

  • Maths in and around the home: times table games for all times tables up to 12x12, countdown, TTRockstars website, playing board games, prices and change at supermarkets, clocks, weighing whilst cooking etc.

CGP Books:

In the Spring term, CGP revision books for Maths and English will also be sent home as part of the students' weekly homework.
