Who Are We?

Hillingdon Primary School is an outstanding primary academy in the centre of the London Borough of Hillingdon.  We are proud to be a member of The Elliot Foundation Academies Trust, a multi academy trust that specialises in primary education.   The school was accredited as The Elliot Foundation Teaching School in 2017 and has been successfully supporting trainee teachers to be outstanding, passionate practitioners ever since.

 Our school motto is Learning and Achieving Together: we apply this not only to our students, but all of the adults we work with.  We understand that, like students, teachers are always learning, and we are proud to provide opportunities for professional development to teachers at all stages in their career, from those just starting out on their teaching journey to those looking to take on senior leadership posts.

Who Do We Work With?

We are a Lead School for Hillingdon SCITT, an Ofsted Outstanding Provider in all categories for teacher training, and we recruit trainees for carefully selected primary partner schools throughout Hillingdon and neighbouring London Boroughs, including community schools, academies and faith schools.

Hillingdon SCITT:

We have chosen to partner with Hillingdon SCITT, who conduct their PGCert through Brunel University, as we believe they provide a unique offer for dedicated individuals to become resilient and reflective practitioners.  Hillingdon SCITT’s training offer includes:

  • a  two day summer Induction Programme to ensure you feel prepared for the training year;
  • an experienced mentor to support and guide you every step of the way;
  • a graduated approach to increasing the time you spend teaching as your experience grows;
  • individual timetables, specifying time spent in the classroom and planning, preparation and assessment time, so you know what to expect throughout the week and can prioritise your workload effectively;
  • opportunities to observe good and outstanding teachers in practice, across the primary age range;
  • a dedicated day for Professional Learning every week; and
  • bespoke support tailored to each trainee’s needs.

Why Choose Hillingdon Primary?

We work closely with Hillingdon SCITT and our Partner Schools to ensure that our trainees feel supported and valued from day one.   Our trainees’ wellbeing is important to us: we care that you have a good work-life balance as we understand that this is when teachers perform at their best and children benefit the most.

Here’s what some of our recent teacher training graduates have to say about us:

My training at HPS gave me all the skills, personal qualities and confidence to prepare me for my NQT year and beyond. The school's motto of 'Learning and Achieving Together' is reflective of their approach to training new teachers, ensuring trainees get all the support and committed mentorship they need to succeed.

I feel very fortunate to have been able to complete my training at Hillingdon Primary School. From my first day I felt welcomed and accepted by my colleagues, the same colleagues who have supported me throughout, sharing advice and good practice. Teaching is an extremely rewarding profession that comes with a great sense of responsibility. Training at Hillingdon Primary allows you to gradually increase your teaching time throughout the year. As a result, when you are in front of the class you have the means to demonstrate all of your new understanding and confidence in your practice.  The Senior Leadership operate with the well-being of students and staff at the forefront of their mind at all times and push to drive the curriculum forward whilst protecting the work-life balance of their teaching and learning staff. Hillingdon Primary School are working to support new teachers and ensure that their passion for Education is maintained far beyond their training.
