Wellbeing at Hillingdon Primary School

Wellbeing Vision Statement

At Hillingdon Primary School, the wellbeing of our pupils, staff, and families is central to everything we do. We are proud to foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child and adult feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Wellbeing is embedded within our school ethos, starting with a robust safeguarding culture. Our dedicated safeguarding team, in close partnership with the London Borough of Hillingdon, works proactively to protect and support all pupils, including vulnerable families and those experiencing grief or other challenging circumstances. All staff are trained in our safeguarding policy, ensuring a shared understanding and consistent response to pupils’
needs.

We have a committed wellbeing team made up of staff from across the school, including members of the Senior Leadership Team. This team leads a range of initiatives to support both pupils and staff. For children needing extra emotional support, our nurture groups offer a calm and supportive space to help them work through their feelings and build resilience.

Pupil wellbeing is further enhanced through PSHE-led assemblies, breakfast and after-school clubs, and a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities that promote personal growth, confidence, and positive relationships.

At Hillingdon Primary, we follow the Jigsaw programme as part of our personal development curriculum. This approach is designed to support children’s emotional wellbeing, build resilience, and promote positive engagement with learning. The Healthy Me puzzle focuses on both mental and physical health, encouraging children to develop lifelong healthy habits. Through this, pupils learn how to make positive choices, manage their emotions effectively, and strengthen their resilience when facing challenges.

We recognise that the wellbeing of our staff is essential to maintaining a happy and effective school community. At Hillingdon Primary School, staff wellbeing is a high priority. Workload is carefully managed, teams work collaboratively and supportively, and leaders operate an open-door policy to encourage open and honest communication. Staff have access to wellbeing breakfasts, posters and resources covering a range of topics, staff counselling services, and CPD focused on behaviour management and emotional wellbeing. Our aim is for every member of staff to feel confident, cared for, and able to succeed in their role.

We are deeply committed to ensuring the wellbeing of all pupils, staff, and families is of the highest standard. Through our ongoing work and partnership with parents, carers, and local services, we continue to build a school community where everyone can flourish—socially, emotionally, and academically.
