Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) Policy Consultation
Consultation Information
The Department for Education have issued new statutory guidance for Relationships, Sex, and Health Education (RSHE) introducing updated, age-appropriate content across all schools. Key changes feature a greater focus on digital safety, AI awareness, misogyny, personal safety, and mental health. At Hillingdon Primary School, these changes will come into effect from the Autumn term of 2026.
In preparation for implementing the new requirements, we have reviewed our curriculum and made changes to our Relationships, Sex and Health Education Policy so we can be sure our provision meets all legal requirements and is appropriate for our pupils based on their age; physical and emotional maturity; religious and cultural backgrounds; and special educational needs and/or disabilities.
We know that both parents, carers and schools play a key role in the education of children and we are keen to receive parents' and carers' feedback on the revised policy. We wrote to all parents and carers on Tuesday 2nd June to provide details of the consultation and copies of all relevant documentation. The consultation will run for two weeks, closing at 3:30pm on Tuesday 16th June 2026.
Please see below for copies of the following consultation documents:
- The consultation letter sent to parents and carers.
- The draft Relationships, Sex and Health Education policy, covering statutory requirements, our curriculum content and how the curriculum is delivered in school.
- The DfE Guidance to schools on Relationships, Sex and Health Education.
Please click here to submit your feedback via our online Google form before 3:30pm on Tuesday 16th June 2026.
Please take the time to read the policy and DfE guide prior to submitting your feedback as both provide key information about the school’s legal obligations, the content of the curriculum, why we are being asked to teach it and our delivery of the curriculum. Please be aware that while your views are welcome and will be genuinely reflected upon to reach our final outcome, they cannot amount to a veto over curriculum content. The law requires the school to teach Relationships and Health Education to all primary school children.
If for any reason you can’t complete the Google Form, please speak to the school office and we will make alternative arrangements for you to participate in the consultation.
Workshop: We will be holding a parent workshop on Friday 3rd July at 2:30pm, during which we will aim to address any themes, questions or concerns raised through the parent feedback form.
