Hillingdon Primary School is situated on the Uxbridge Road in the area known as Hillingdon Heath. The school amalgamated in September 1996, bringing together the Infants and Junior schools. In addition to this a new nursery was built in 2005. We enjoy the support of parents in this close knit urban community. Our recent OFSTED/HMI Inspections identified many strengths in the school, which is characterised with such phrases as:
‘Pupils enjoys school and talk in positive terms about their lessons and the clubs and other activities on offer'
‘Pupils work hard and cooperate well with each other and with adults. They are confident, helpful and are keen to take on responsibility.'
‘Playground buddies ensure that pupils are not left out of games and problems are dealt with swiftly.'
‘School council members represent their classmates effectively.'
‘...pupils know what they are expected to learn and activities were well matched to their needs.'
‘Good care by the school enables pupils to gain confidence and self-esteem as their needs are considered and respected by all staff. Parents are particularly pleased with this aspect of schools' work. The school is committed to supporting pupils in a secure environment.'
‘The school is rightly proud that the proportion of pupils who reached the expected level 4 in English was well above that achieved nationally and the proportion reaching a higher level was also above the national figure.'
‘Pupils are taught in sets for English and Mathematics lessons according to their ability and prior attainment, and there is scope to include higher attaining pupils from younger years with Year 6 classes to make sure they are appropriately challenged.'
‘Teachers are accountable for the progress their pupils make...'
